Essence of Power
So I've painted an Essence of Power to go with my Cult of December models. Here it is in all its blury glory:
Well, I didn't make it
Looks like I didn't make it. The second half of the month got awaful crazy at work with a lot of extra hours. Then Thanksgiving out of town happened. That being said, it did help me get the ball rolling so overall I would say it did its job.

Malifaux Demo
I did a second demoday at our other LGS yesterday. It wasn't as well visited, but I was expecting that a bit. I had one of my Warmachine buddies come by and I showed him the game along with a couple of other wargamers. Also had a guy who plays HeroScape show interest. Not sure if I'll land him (I think the idea of assembling and painting might have spooked him.) but I made sure to let him know how to get in touch with me (I have a sign at both LGS' with my email on it.) because his wife was yelling for him. It will be interesting to see if he joins us.
Overall I think it went pretty well, I know the two gentlemen seemed interested (one already has a crew) and my buddy definately seems interested. In addition I believe one of the employees is interested, he was working but we're going to set up a demo in a week or so.

Infinity Game 2
I played my second game of Infinity last night. The game still seems to be fun, though I think I'm being a little too cautious in the game. I tend to hide behind cover which normally is a good thing, but in this game it allows my opponent to set up fire lanes so he is ready to shoot me when I do make my move. If you ever play Inifinity, learn from my mistakes. Infinity is a game where it seems you have to be a bit more agressive in your opening turns then most other games. Also, height is King. Getting a sniper where they can see over everything makes them killer in the Reactive phase. Make sure your terrain has areas where there is a celing for your miniatures to hide under. One of the owners of The Foundry mentioned that they determined that their 40K terrain didn't work well, and I can see that. The ARO makes a completely different dynamic to the game.

Henchman
You probably noticed that my Seamus and Lady Justice pics have my Malifaux decks in them. This is because they were for my Henchman application. Wyrd Miniatures has a volunteer demo team called Henchmen. I was accepted and so I'm now the henchman for Huntsville, Alabama. I've done one demo day at The Foundry and will be doing another next weekend (November 12th) at HobbyTown USA. I'm also trying to make the Madison Court House nights (as work permits) and I am available by appointment. You can email hsvhenchman@gmail.com if you have any questions or are interested in a demo. I have a full demo kit so all you need is an open mind and some enthusiasim.

Seamus
Along with Rasputina I have two other starter sets painted. The first one is Seamus and his Red Chapel Gang. I need to get some better pictures, but here are a couple of bad ones:

Infinty
Can't let Malifaux get all the fun. So far I've played one game of Infinity and it seems tone a pretty fun game as well. I like highly tactical games and pretty models. Infinity has both. In Infinity the basic rules Revolve around their Order and ARO system. The way this works is that you get a number of orders based on how many models you have on the board. You spend them to do things, with ther being three basic lists, stuff you can do once or twice per order, stuff you can do once per order that allow you to also do something from the firs tcolumn, and stuff that you can do once per order but doesn't allow you to do something from the first order. Then there is the ARO. Any time I activate a model via an order, there is a subsection of the order lists that any model that can see the first one can do. This is great because it allows things like Snipers. One of the orders I can use in ARO is to shoot you. So I can stick a sniper somewhere, use his order on a different model, and the still have him shoot at people if they crossed the area he was covering. This also means that pinning a model isn't an abstract "Roll your courage and if you make it there isn't any consequences to you moving around." At one point during the game I had a guy that my opponent had three guys with Line of Sight to. That meant if I did anything, my opponent would have three shots on that one wound model. Needless to say that I didn't do anything with him since any order (even shooting back) would had caused three shots at him.
Another thing I like about Infinity is that it isn't the typical run at each other. In the game I played, the closest minis got was about a foot a part.
Modelwise, Infinity is another skirmish game, so you are looking at about 8-10 models per side. In addition, the models are excellently sculpted with a very heavy anime flavor.
Overall I would say if you like Anime and an interesting rule set, you should give Infinity a try. They do have videos on YouTube, or check out Beasts of War, they did an Infinity week

A fun game in spite of the rulebook
One of the big complaints I hear about Malifaux is "I've tried to read the rulebook and the game makes no sense.". Honestly, that doesn't surprise me, Malifaux seems to be the game that is simple despite the rulebook. That being said, here is my tips and tricks:
1) Buy the Rules Manual. I know you can download the Rules for free from Wyrd. That being said, the pictures are worth the $15 in simplifying the rule explanations.
2) Measurement is always Horizontal from an overhead view.
3) Height of an object affects Melee range and climbing. Other than that ignore it.
4) A model always has line of sight and distance to itself.
5) Towards means end closer, away means end farther away. Directly means in a straight line.
6) Pushes stop when they hit something.
7) You can't decide not to flip if the rules say to.
8) The Black Joker is zero, not auto-fail. If stat plus 0 is greater then the target number it still passes.
9) A willpower duel works just like a normal duel, just with different stats.
10) Each model can do a lot. Learn three things each model can. Once you have that down, add another. Repeat until you know everything.
11)You are allowed to see your opponents stat card unless the tournament says no.
12) Triggers are voluntary.
13) The Wyrd Forums are a great place to ask questions and get rulings.

My Rasputina crew begins
So I am working on a Raspatina crew for Malifaux. So far I've got the starter box set painted.
Here is Raspy and her big Ice Golem:
and here are the Ice Golem and his little friends the Ice Gaimen:
as you can see, my painting definately worsens the overall quality of the sculpts. Wyrd started as a miniature company and then added a rule set, so their sculpts are often superb.

Malifaux
So my game of choice right now is Malifaux. For those who don't know what that is, Malifaux is a skirmish level game (Most crews (armies) are 10 to 15 miniatures) based in a creepy Victorian/Wild West setting. It is currently show a huge growth spike and is a really fun game. In addition, it uses playing cards instead of dice for the randomizer, and has some rules to help mitigate the that randomness. It looks very complicated, but it is very easy to pick up. I taught a guy whose only similiar experience was Magic how to play in a single game (I was there for his second game to coach but he didn't need it.). If you haven't gotten a chance, you should try it out.
NaPoOnUrBloMo
So this is National Novel Writing Month. Since I'm not much of a writer, I'm going to use this as National Post On Your Blog Month. My goal is to post an entry every day this month to get into the habit of posting.

Introduction
It looks like blogger ate my intro post, so here it is again. Hi, my name is WookieeGunner and I'm a gamer-holic. I've started this blog as a way of keeping me focused and to discuss my addiction with others.
So you might be wondering about the title. I get a lot of random thoughts, as you'll learn if you stick around. I was talking to a guy at my LGS about the fact that I wasn't going to show up to a Flames of War demo because I didn't need to get into yet another Wargame. The next morning I was thinking about the conversation and realized that if someone came up to me and said "Hey, I've got a new Wargame that uses models made from human excrement fired like ceramic and you race Dung Beetles for the randomizer." my response would probably be "Cool, do you use real Dung Beetles or the wind up toys?"
Like I said, I'm a wargamer-holic. So the plan is that this will be a generic gaming blog, so expect a bit of everything. Right now I'm primarily playing Malifaux, so that's what you'll be seeing most. That said, I will be posting stuff from other systems as well.
